Our Year in Review -- 2006-2007

- The installation of officers took place at a luncheon meeting in June 2006, with District V Director-Elect Clarice Shaw officiating. Shortly afterward the executive board met and approved the yearbook format, and made plans for the year.
- In August we attended a special luncheon at St. Alban's Anglican Church in Richmond, for a tour and also a lecture on Preserving Family Treasures.

- In September, we provided the Virginia DAR Traveling group participating in the annual Fall Muster with a Trolley ride to a tour of the Fredericksburg Museum and then a supper/tour at historic St. George's Episcopal Church.
- We read a National Defense Message, Indian Minute, and Flag Minute at each meeting.
- Members created a Christmas Tree for auction to support Fredericksburg's Hope House.
- We sponsored a student applicant for a Virginia DAR Scholarship.
- We Honored DAR Good Citizens
with a luncheon and awards at their
school awards night ceremonies.

- Our chapter web page continued to be a source of interest and inquiry. We have assisted many people with genealogy research, and have received many inquiries from women interested in joining the DAR. Several have applications in progress.
- Using computers, we generated and printed our own yearbook, monthly chapter bulletins, mailing labels, special invitations, award certificates and meeting agendas. We created and maintain our own chapter web page, and the District V Page. We are avid users of the computer for genealogy research as well as for communication and general information.
- We gave conservation and recycling tips, and patriotic, historical, and commemorative events information in our monthly chapter bulletins and at our chapter meetings.
- Our members served on District, State, and National DAR Committees.
- We donated many books to the library in Victoria and provided them with a gift
subscription to the DAR American Spirit magazine.
- We contributed clothing, soup labels, costume jewelry, and other needed items to the DAR schools. We contributed stamps, money, buddy bags, greeting cards, and other items for veteran/patients.
- We supported other groups: We gave programs for, and attended meetings and events sponsored by other chapters and organizations.
- During the year we had chapter programs on the Chapter Revitalization, DAR Insignia, Lafayette in Virginia, The Faulconer's of Virginia, Christmas at Mary Washington House, NSWC Dahlgren, Conservation of the Rappahannock River, Revolutionary War Camp Followers, and the Flora of Virginia.
- We participated in commemorative events, including the Yorktown Day Celebration, and local area events such as the Discovery Days Festival in Stafford.
- We attended the District V Annual Meeting, the District V National Defense Luncheon and Silent Auction, the Virginia DAR State Conference, and Continental Congress. We received State and National recognition and awards.
- We contributed money to the President General's Project, State Regent's Project, and the District V Flag Fund. We purchased pins. We subscribed to the DAR Magazine. We supported our troops.
