General Information
Description
The Falls of the Rappahannock Chapter was organized in October, 1980, in response to a need for a DAR chapter convenient for the eligible working women in the southern Stafford County and Fredericksburg areas of Virginia.
The Chapter was named for the scenic falls on the historic Rappahannock River which separates the city of Fredericksburg from Stafford county (click HERE for more information).
Chapter Size
The Chapter now has about 30 members, junior members, and associate members, primarily from Stafford County, the City of Fredericksburg and other surrounding counties. Several loyal members who have moved elsewhere still maintain local chapter memberships.
Our membership includes many business and professional women: professors, church leaders, entrepreneurs, nurses, teachers, and military personnel.
Meetings
Meetings are usually held on the second Thursday of each month, at 7:30 pm, and most are held at members' homes on a rotating basis.
The Chapter sends a monthly bulletin to all members and candidates, notifying them of meeting locations, upcoming special events, and other items of interest.
Service
The Chapter is involved in a variety of activities in support of the National Society objectives of Historic Preservation, Promotion of Education, and Patriotic Endeavor.
The Chapter has sought NSDAR honors for its efforts every year since its founding.
Whenever possible, members willingly serve on DAR Society committees at district, state and national levels.
